Board approves 2025–26 bus routes; district reports 45 full‑time drivers and over 60 buses

The St. Bernard Parish School Board approved transportation routes for the 2025–26 school year after the transportation supervisor presented route counts, fleet information and staffing levels.
Brandy Tucker, supervisor of transportation, told the board that many elementary schools will add one special education bus and provided school‑by‑school route counts. "We We have 26 regular buses and 3 special education buses," Tucker said when describing Chalmette High School; when all runs are counted she said the system's schedules equal about 132 runs in the morning and 132 in the afternoon. Several elementary routes were tweaked to reduce student ride time and equalize assignments.
Tucker also reported staffing and fleet numbers: 45 full‑time bus drivers, more than 60 buses owned by the district, six full‑time substitute drivers, five full‑time riders (aides), and two mechanics (one position open following a recent retirement). She said the dispatcher will retire in October and the district is conducting interviews for that position and for a mechanic.
Board members praised the department’s punctuality and recruitment efforts; Miss Dysart moved to accept the bus routes and Mister Long seconded. The motion passed (vote recorded as 10 in favor).
