Head Start office reports grant award, staffing and recruitment for full enrollment of 314 children

Head Start staff provided the Acadia Parish School Board an update on program operations, staffing and funding as the program prepares for the 2025–26 school year.
The presenter, Miss Tull, said correspondence from GrantSolutions acknowledged a noncompeting new grant that was awarded and released on June 26. The Office of Head Start has introduced new Southwest Regional Office leadership and the district has scheduled meetings with new regional program and fiscal specialists to discuss updated fiscal requirements.
Miss Tull said staff summer letters have been mailed and that the Head Start office and management team are meeting weekly to prepare for the school year. "They are still actively recruiting children for this upcoming school year in order to reach their full funded enrollment of 314 children," she said.
The presentation was informational; board members were invited to ask questions and no formal action was recorded on the agenda item during the meeting.
Staff noted a policy council training and recognition banquet scheduled for the coming Thursday at 6:00 p.m., and that the district is monitoring new fiscal guidance from the Southwest Regional Office.
