Longtime board secretary announces retirement after 31 years

Cindy Jenkins, the Tangipahoa Parish School Board secretary, told the board on June 24 she will retire after more than 31 years with the district, likely in August or mid‑September once a replacement is hired and trained.
Board members praised Jenkins for her institutional knowledge and support to trustees and administration. The president said a personnel committee will meet at the next meeting to update the job description and begin recruiting for the position.
Several board members said Jenkins’ experience would be difficult to replace and promised a recognition before her departure.
