Committee confirms several Human Relations and Social Services commission appointees

The committee approved the Human Relations Commission appointment of Alan Sloan for a term expiring April 18, 2026. Sloan told the committee he is chairman and co-director of NAICS Nashville, a group that focuses on education and community building in the non-monogamy community, and described equity as central to his volunteer work. “Making sure that equity exists in our city is something very important to me,” Sloan said.
Later in the meeting the committee took a consolidated vote to confirm several additional commission nominees. The committee approved the reappointment of Dakota Galman (term expiring April 18, 2029) and Alicia Wynn (term expiring April 18, 2028); and the appointments of Sarah Martin (term expiring April 18, 2027), Carmen Reese Foster (term expiring April 18, 2027), Claudia Weber (term expiring April 18, 2027) to the Human Relations Commission. The Social Services Commission appointment of Dr. D'Angelo Taylor (term expiring April 3, 2030) was also approved. The consolidated vote passed 7-0.
Committee members offered no removals from the consent consolidated vote and no further substantive discussion was recorded on the nominees. The confirmations place the named individuals on advisory bodies that handle equity, human relations and social services matters in Davidson County.
