Seguin ISD consultant presents final long-range facility plan, recommends site-specific priorities

Seguin Independent School District trustees heard a final report on long-range facility planning that ranks district campuses by need and offers conceptual improvement options for each site.

The plan, presented by Robin Popa, lays out three priority tiers of campus needs and recommends on-site replacement or significant renovation at several schools while also proposing repurposing opportunities near the high school to delay construction of a second high school. "Long range facility plans are never stagnant," Popa told trustees, urging the district to update the plan and tie it to demographic and budgetary analyses before moving to project phasing or a bond referendum.

Popa told the board the committee’s Tier 1 list—those sites with the greatest urgency—includes Weinert, central office/Oak Park Mall (OPM), Jefferson, Potlawn, Vogel, Sager, the Irma Lewis Outdoor Learning Center and the high school. For Weinert and Jefferson, the…
