Lowndes County commissioners approved repairs and equipment replacement at the Blue Lake Lift Station after staff presented repair and replacement quotes. Staff reported the duplex lift station was operating on a single pump because one 60-horsepower pump was out of service. Staff provided a repair quote from Zylin for $44,661 and a quote to replace the pump for $62,714; staff recommended repairing the existing pump for $44,661. Staff said the repaired pump would carry a one-year warranty and repairs historically have held up; a new pump would have a four-year warranty. On a separate agenda item, staff reported the station's control panel was damaged beyond repair during Hurricane Helene. Staff received three quotes for a replacement cabinet and recommended Coward Electric's bid. Commissioners awarded the control-panel replacement to Coward Electric for $43,615. Staff estimated repaired pumps would be returned within about a month of approval. The approvals allow the county to restore full duplex operation at the main trunkline lift station and to replace failed electrical components damaged in the storm.
