Commissioners authorize juvenile delinquency grant application and accept $325,000 incentive award

The Lowndes County Board of Commissioners authorized staff to submit a juvenile justice delinquency prevention grant application and accepted a FY2026 juvenile justice incentive grant award totaling $325,000 for the Functional Family Therapy (FFT) program. Mr. Tye told commissioners the application is a continuation of a grant the county has implemented for the past four years and asked for authorization to submit the continuation application on behalf of the Lowndes County Juvenile Court. The board approved staff submitting the application. The board also accepted the FY2026 juvenile justice incentive grant award and authorized the chairman to sign the award packet, including a service agreement with Evidence Based Associates. Mr. Tye said this is the county's thirteenth consecutive year receiving the funding for the FFT program. The motion to accept the award specified the amount as $325,000 and included authorization for the chairman and appropriate staff to execute the award packet. The actions will allow juvenile court staff to execute the grant award and continue the FFT program pending completion of required award documents.
