Commission approves abatement order after large needle accumulation at riverbank encampment
Summary

Administrator Atkins told the commission that the county would avoid having untrained staff handle sharps; instead the county intends to coordinate a professional needle-pickup service and ensure proper containment and transfer to an appropriate disposal facility.
Commissioners reviewed a draft abatement decision; after minor review commissioners voted unanimously to adopt the decision and directed staff to notify involved parties and proceed with the abatement and cleanup in coordination with public-health partners.
