The San Juan City Commission appointed five individuals to the Keep San Juan Beautiful board, filling several vacancies left when members stepped down for work reasons. The appointments were moved by staff and seconded by a commissioner; the motion carried on a voice vote.
According to staff, four of five previous board members had stepped down citing work-related conflicts; some had been appointed years earlier and had irregular attendance. The commission appointed the following replacements (new appointee for outgoing member): Saldana for Mipta Espinola, Bernardo Trevino for Daniel Garza Flores, Crystal Valdez for Tanya Viveros, Scott Lial for Martha Rosales, and Eric Sanchez for Art Ramirez.
The appointments were made during the appointments agenda item to restore quorum and staffing for the Keep San Juan Beautiful board. No conditions or staggered terms were discussed at the meeting; staff said some applications dated from 2019–2020 and that one previous appointee had not attended meetings.
