The City Council on July 23 authorized the city manager to execute a three-year agreement (with two optional one-year extensions) with West Coast Arborist Inc. to provide citywide tree-maintenance services, including watering, pruning, removal, plant-health care, tree replacement, GPS inventory collection and arborist consulting. Staff said the city issued an RFP in June 2025 and received three proposals. After evaluating qualifications, experience, references and cost competitiveness, staff recommended West Coast Arborist based on prior responsiveness, local presence (Anaheim office) and resources; staff noted one proposer did not follow the RFP template and another was geographically distant (Redding). Work will be assigned by task order and invoiced per line-item pricing. Staff said public-works contract services budgets for FY 2025–26 and subsequent years include funds to cover routine and emergency tree maintenance and that staff can provide the full proposals to the council for review if desired. Council approved the authorization by roll-call vote with all present members voting yes.
