A Main Street Waterloo representative briefed the City Council on new downtown businesses and upcoming events aimed at attracting visitors and supporting revitalization. Starroop, identified as immediate past president of the Main Street Waterloo board, reported that Conemore Bakery is open at 331 East Fourth Street, Goodgame (a family-owned game store) has opened, and the Grow Room (an organic and wellness boutique) is scheduled to open within a month. "This really represents a whole lot of people working collaboratively to enhance our Downtown Waterloo," Starroop said. Starroop also previewed Main Street's seasonal events: a gala on the Friday before the December house tours and a Christmas house tour of the Grout District on Saturday, Dec. 6. The representative asked the council to support the organization's ongoing efforts to bring visitors downtown. No council action was recorded; the remarks were delivered during the public-comment period as updates from a local nonprofit board.
