The City Council on July 23 adopted Resolution No. 021-2025 approving the city’s 2025–26 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and budget, including an estimated allocation of $135,099 from the Los Angeles County Development Authority. Staff told the council the city intends to use most of the allocation for street improvements such as curb ramps, ADA-compliant curbs, sidewalk repair and reconstruction of damaged streets on the listed corridors, including Civic Center Drive, First Street and Wharton Avenue. The council also approved a smaller public-service allocation for neighborhood cleanups; staff said they allocated less than the 15% maximum allowable for public services this year to prioritize capital street improvements but will continue neighborhood cleanups with other funds. The public hearing on the CDBG budget drew no public comment by Zoom or in-person, and the council approved the resolution by roll-call vote with all present members voting yes.
