Business committee update: grants, LED upgrades, preschool canopy grant and $200,000 food service transfer noted

The Robbinsville Board of Education’s business committee reported a series of operational and finance items at the July meeting, including summer facilities work, grant developments and short‑term budget adjustments.

Business Administrator Mr. McCreese and committee members reviewed summer projects: high school auditorium lighting and projector work, new stage curtains pending scheduling, middle‑school playground repaving and ongoing security and camera upgrades. The committee reported that LED lighting upgrades at the high school were completed under a state contract with no upfront cost and an estimated 15.8% rate (presentation materials in board packet). A preschool canopy and benches will be installed under a $98,000 grant. Several ROD grant reimbursement applications are pending and the committee expects to recover a portion of costs for eligible projects.

On finance, the committee noted that the board had approved a $200,000 transfer to address a 2024–25 food‑service deficit. The district also is conducting a feasibility study for a potential 2028 bond referendum; that study is expected to conclude by August. The committee said subscription busing did not move forward this year because of low interest and that district staff will attempt to begin the process earlier next year. Several vehicles and pieces of equipment were listed for sale on GovDeals as part of asset disposal.

Committee members reminded the board that fiscal items will return as needed for formal action; at the meeting the board approved agenda items that included business recommendations as part of the consent motion.
