County adopts FEMA-approved hazard mitigation plan; adoption opens eligibility for mitigation funding

Troy, an emergency management official, told commissioners that the county's hazard mitigation plan had been approved by FEMA and that county-level adoption was the next step. "The plan did get approved by FEMA," Troy said. Troy said once the county adopts the plan, participating jurisdictions that adopt it within the required period will qualify for mitigation funds for their specific areas. "Once it's adopted, then it's fully in effect," he said, adding that jurisdictions have a year to complete local adoption. Commissioner discussion was minimal. A motion to adopt the resolution implementing the plan was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. "Motion's made and seconded.
