Council members seek regional homelessness summit, propose cross‑sector tasking

Three Montpelier councilors proposed a regional meeting on homelessness at the City Council session on July 23 to bring service providers, public‑health officials, faith‑based groups and neighboring jurisdictions together to inventory resources and identify near‑term actions. The convening matters because councilors said the city faces immediate winter needs and that a regional, multi‑agency approach is required to coordinate services, funding and public‑health responses. Councilor Adrian described outreach to public‑health and county organizations and urged an asset‑focused, systems approach: "It would be so great if everyone came to the same table and talked about what are all these pieces doing because everyone's working, you know, in their world," Adrian said.
