District, foundation and partners prepare devices, backpacks and back‑to‑school events ahead of Aug. 11 start

District leaders and the Flagler County Education Foundation used the July 22 meeting to outline back‑to‑school steps including device distribution, backpack packing and community events ahead of the Aug. 11 first day of school.
Teresa Rizzo, speaking for the Flagler County Education Foundation, said the foundation packed 2,000 school starter packs at the Flagler Schools Engagement Center and that more than 35 volunteers participated in the effort. She invited board members and families to the Back to School Jam on Saturday, Aug. 2, where families can pick up starter packs and get program information.
Superintendent Lashaka Moore urged families to complete annual registration documents online, pick up student devices on scheduled device‑pickup dates and rely on Skyward for final, approved schedules (the district expects schedules to be released Aug. 7). Moore also said the district is shifting from Remind to ParentSquare and asked families to download ParentSquare to receive district notifications. The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 11; Moore reminded drivers to be alert for buses and students at stops.
The foundation also previewed a new series of short videos showcasing schools and CTE programs aligned with the district’s Diploma Plus initiative; those materials will be shared on the foundation’s and district’s channels in coming weeks.
District staff provided operational reminders and thanked IT, custodial and transportation teams for preparations. The board and superintendent highlighted community partner support and volunteer opportunities for Reading Pals and other programs.
