Trustee Dennis moved to authorize the superintendent to apply for available funding and Trustee Dr. Elkins Scott seconded the motion. Dr. Moore said the authorization is a routine annual request and is intended to allow staff to act quickly when grant opportunities arise.
Trustee Williams asked whether the authorization would include grants for food funding given the CEP decision. Dr. Moore replied that the current resolution only addresses districtwide CEP and that if new funding were acquired that would change the district's position, the board would be asked to amend the resolution. Mr. Anderson said the district participates in multiple federal feeding programs and that staff will work with grants coordinator Arlene Bacutus to seek additional funding, though he cautioned that federal funding streams were under review.
The board voted to authorize the superintendent; the transcript records the motion as made by Trustee Dennis and seconded by Dr. Elkins Scott, with the chair later recording a 7-0 vote on the motion.
