Council approves zone change to remove drill-reservation designation for city tract

Liz told the council land uses around the tract include drill reservations to the east and vacant lots to the north, south and west, and that the request aligns with the city’s comprehensive plan. The Planning and Zoning Commission previously approved the zone change 5-0 on July 3.
The council opened a public hearing and received no public comments. Councilman Haney moved for approval; Councilman Mitchell seconded. After formally closing the hearing the council voted unanimously to approve the zone change.
The meeting record does not specify exact acreage in a clear numeric form; the public presentation described the parcel as the city’s “Drill Site.” Any future development proposals for the property will follow the city’s land-use and permitting processes.
