The mayor told the council the city is conducting a round of crack sealing on numerous streets and asked staff to post notices again on social media.
The mayor said police were given notification of the work less than 40 hours in advance in some locations and that officers will move vehicles a short distance down the street if they cannot reach the owner rather than tow them. The mayor asked aldermen to advise residents that street maintenance will occur over the coming weeks across much of the city.
The announcement also noted upcoming community events, including National Night Out on Aug. 5 and a centennial carnival starting Aug. 6; the mayor asked council members to be mindful of scheduling conflicts in August.
