Forest View Mobile Home Park residents ask city for help exploring self-management and relocation impact study

Joe Serrantes, speaking for Forest View Mobile Home Park residents, told the council the community seeks to self-manage the park and asked city leaders to recognize and support those efforts.
“We have a dream that one day the residents of Forest View Mobile Home Park will rise and take control of our own destiny,” Serrantes said during public comment, urging the council and state officials to “recognize the strength and resilience of the Forest View residents” and to support residents “not to dictate, but to empower.”
Serrantes asked the city to help ensure accountability from the park owner, including requiring a relocation impact report paid for by the owner if displacement is possible. He framed the requests around resident safety, dignity and economic stability and asked the city for cooperation and follow-up communication.
The council did not take action on the request during the public-comment period; Serrantes said he expects continued communications with city staff. The remarks were made during the public-comment portion of the July 22 meeting.
