Monroe County Airport presents 20‑year master plan; sewer access is main barrier to development

The Monroe County Airport presented a progress report to the Monroe County Council on July 22 on its FAA‑mandated 20‑year master plan, describing current operations, stakeholder outreach, development opportunities and the infrastructure constraint that most limits near‑term commercial and industrial development: sewer service.

Why it matters: The airport reported interest from multiple out‑of‑state companies in developing aviation‑ and technology‑related facilities on roughly 200 acres of airport property—projects that the airport estimates could represent more than $400 million in potential capital investment and more than 500 jobs.
