The council accepted a donated 30-foot right-of-way from a ready-mix plant owner to allow the city to extend Gun Club Road and approved a related special-assessment consent for construction costs. Officials said the ready-mix plant (identified in the meeting as Tri State/Dry State Ready Mix) agreed to transfer a 30-foot strip of land at no cost so the city can complete the road extension to County Road 77. Council voted to accept the warranty deed and to approve a consent for a special assessment associated with the work. City staff said the overall project cost for the segment allocated to the property is $20,506.87 based on itemized bids. The city will pay for the road installation except for curb-and-gutter work, which the property owner will provide or pay for as part of the normal arrangement. The road will be designed to carry ready-mix truck traffic. Councilors said granting the deed and approving the assessment will aid future development and provide direct vehicle access for the plant; the council approved the motions by voice vote.
