Cloverdale Police invite residents to National Night Out on Aug. 5; new officers to be introduced

The Cloverdale Police Department announced details of its annual National Night Out community event at the July 8 council meeting. The event is scheduled for Aug. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. and is intended as a community meet-and-greet for residents with police, fire, ambulance, Cal Fire and other first responders.
The department said the event will include Star Wars'themed activities, appearances by costumed characters, a monster truck ("Skull Crusher"), hot dogs and popcorn, games for children, tours of the police department and a free raffle funded in part by donations and a $1,500 contribution of prizes from the POA. The department noted that two new police officers, who began the academy the preceding Monday, will be introduced at the event. Food will be provided by the Lions Club and all activities are free.
The announcement received supportive comments from council and residents, with one council member saying, "You guys are awesome," and residents encouraged the community to attend. No formal council action was required.
