Millersville council appoints Angela Cuthbert to fill council vacancy through January 2026

The Millersville Borough Council unanimously appointed Angela Cuthbert to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Darlene Egger, the council announced on July 22. Angela Cuthbert was one of three applicants interviewed by council; the term will run until the first Monday in January following the November municipal election. Council President explained the borough code gives council 30 days to fill a vacancy; if council does not act, the vacancy board has a subsequent 15 days to appoint. At the meeting, council said four votes would be required to appoint a successor because six council members sit on the council. Councilmember Cofield and others spoke in favor of Cuthbert, citing her planning commission experience. The roll call vote to appoint Cuthbert was unanimous. Cuthbert introduced herself during the interview period as a Millersville University professor in geography and a current planning commission member. She described community engagement work including student walking assessments and partnerships with local organizations and said she views the five‑month appointment as an opportunity to contribute and to possibly inform future choices about running for a full term. Council indicated the president will assign committee seats and staff will notify her of duties and meeting obligations. Council took no executive session and adjourned after completing appointments and other business.
