Loveland City Council adopted a resolution authorizing the city manager to execute the sixth amendment to the fire and EMS service contract to include a 36‑month community paramedicine program and a three-year compensation schedule for the contractual provider.
City staff summarized prior discussions and said the amendment would be the sixth change to the contract since it took effect in 2015. Staff and the contract partner described the goal of the community paramedicine program as enhancing emergency services availability by creating a dedicated response unit that would respond to the city’s most frequent calls. Staff said the contract compensation would increase 5% over the next three years and that the paramedicine program would be paid from the city’s EMS fund (Fund 23).
Staff reported that Fund 23 had an unencumbered balance of $671,000 at the time of the meeting and that the city expected the fund to cover the program’s costs; staff also referenced increased ambulance charges since 2020 that have improved fund revenues and noted grant funding had reduced other pressures on the fire funds. The resolution authorizing the contract amendment was adopted by roll-call vote, recorded as Resolution 67, 6 to 0.
The city manager and fire chief were present during the discussion and answered council questions.
