The Eagle School District Board approved replacement of a leaking boiler at the CCA facility and accepted a $40,000 grant from the Washington Schools Risk Management Pool (WSRMP) to offset costs.
Staff explained the boiler was leaking and required replacement before the school year starts; vendors contacted for quotes said some could not complete work by Aug. 31. Aries (contractor referenced by staff) provided a timeline that staff said would allow work to be done before the deadline. The district had budgeted approximately $75,000 for the replacement and noted the $40,000 WSRMP grant will reduce levy-funded capital spending.
A staff presenter said the work falls under the district’s procurement threshold (under $75,000) but that multiple vendors were contacted and Aries was the vendor able to meet the schedule. The vendor expects the work to take about a week, allowing completion prior to the start of school.
Board members approved the replacement by voice vote. Staff said the grant payment will go to the capital fund and help stretch levy dollars for other projects.
