Glynn County chief of staff outlines role, strategic‑plan intern to present update in August

Tanya Moran, Glynn County’s chief of staff, said she coordinates commissioners’ projects, helps implement the county’s four‑year strategic plan and manages programs to develop and retain staff.

Moran described responsibilities that include acting as a liaison for commissioners, researching projects and providing timelines for departmental follow‑up. “I help to just pull all the pieces together for them, do the research, and then give them a timeline on when we can give them feedback,” she said on Good News Glenn.

Moran outlined two workforce programs tied to the strategic plan: an Administrative Professionals Network, a nine‑month professional development cohort that graduated recently, and an Emerging Leaders program intended to prepare mid‑level managers as future directors. Both programs aim to retain institutional knowledge and provide career paths for county staff.

Moran said the county received a grant from the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) to fund an intern, Celie Deaver, a senior at the College of Coastal Georgia. The intern is evaluating the county’s strategic plan and comprehensive plan and will present findings at a special called work session on Aug. 19. Moran said the strategic plan runs through 2026 and that planning for the next cycle will begin in early 2027.

No formal commission action or budget vote was recorded on the broadcast; Moran said the work smooths project delivery between commissioners and departmental staff and that she will continue to coordinate implementation and reporting to the board.
