Board approves Learning Genie pilot to administer DRDP in transitional kindergarten; UPK grant to cover fees

The Santa Rita Union School District board voted 3‑0 to approve a contract to pilot Learning Genie as the administration platform for the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) in the district’s transitional kindergarten program.
District staff said DRDP is a common early childhood assessment recommended by the state and that Learning Genie will streamline administration, reporting and lesson‑planning aligned to the DRDP. The district described the pilot as a year for teachers to become familiar with the assessment tool in advance of any future state requirement.
The district said the UPK grant will cover the cost of the Learning Genie subscription for the coming year. The assistant superintendent and other staff explained that the tool ‘‘provides an opportunity for [teachers] to easily pull reports, data, [and] lesson plans that align with the standards’’ and recommended approval of the contract for implementation this year.
The board approved the contract on a motion and voice vote recorded as 3‑0. No public comment was offered on the item during the meeting.
District staff said they would begin the pilot with the transitional kindergarten classrooms and monitor implementation and teacher readiness over the coming months.
