LaGrange Park swears in probationary firefighter Cameron Pipes

Cameron Pipes was sworn in as a probationary firefighter for the Village of LaGrange Park during the July 22 village board meeting after completing the department’s probationary requirements, including the basic operations fire academy and state firefighter certification and emergency medical training to become a licensed emergency medical technician. Fire and village officials and board members praised Pipes’ dedication; Fire Chief (unnamed) said Pipes spent many hours at the station studying, training and learning apparatus and equipment. Pipes introduced family members who were present for the pinning and oath. President Jim DeCipio and trustees thanked Pipes for volunteering his time in a largely combination (paid-on-call) department and welcomed him to the force. This was a ceremonial personnel action; no board vote was required.
