Board approves pay estimate No. 8 and change order No. 3 for Northeast Water Extension Phase 2

The Board of Public Works and Safety approved pay estimate No. 8 and change order No. 3 for the Northeast Water Extension Phase 2 project on July 23. John Pike, director of engineering, presented the documents and said the change order increases the contract by $11,417.51 for corrective grading over the water main after the line was laid too shallow; Pike said the shallow placement resulted from "a lack of communication between the city and several contractors working in the area," and that corrective action was required by the water company. Pike reported pay estimate No. 8 in the amount of $102,337.53 is due to ES Wagner Company for work completed from June 1 to June 30 and requested release of $196,344.75 in retainage while keeping a retainage balance of about $10,000 until project closeout. The board moved, seconded and approved the payment, change order and partial release of retainage. The original contract amount of $4,210,596 has been modified by prior contract modifications to $4,243,321.53 after this change order.
