Selectwoman Colby asked for a comprehensive presentation of the town's overlay and outstanding abatements before the fall 2025 tax rate is set. She said the board's review indicated more than $1 million in potential outstanding abatements from 2020, 2023 and 2024 and moved that the town manager or finance director present all related documents and calculations to the Selectmen in a public meeting for final review and approval prior to setting the tax rate.

Board members said the presentation would give the Selectmen a complete picture and allow consideration of options such as using unassigned fund balance to offset overlay needs. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

The board asked staff to prepare the packet as part of the tax-rate-setting timeline so the Selectmen can make an informed decision on overlay levels and tax-rate implications.
