Board approves $199,000 HOME grant contract for Southern Terrace development

The board approved a $199,000 Home Investment Partnerships Program contract with Southern Terrace LP to support a scattered-site project that will develop 50 housing units, of which four will be HOME-assisted for low-income households.
The Muncie Board of Public Works and Safety approved Jan. 8 a contract under the Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) program with Southern Terrace LP for $199,000.
Melissa Pullen, HOME program coordinator in the Office of Community Development, said the funding will support a scattered-site development of about 50 housing units across several parcels and that four of those will be HOME-assisted units targeted to low-income households.
"This is going to fund, a project which will ultimately develop 50 housing units relatively scatter built across a couple different parcels of which 4 of those will be our HOME assisted units. These will be for low income households," Pullen said.
A board member moved and seconded a motion to approve the Southern Terrace contract; the motion carried by voice vote.
Pullen did not provide a detailed construction timetable in the meeting; project sequencing and HOME program compliance will be managed by Community Development and the developer.
