The Muncie City Parks Board approved several event requests and set conditions for others during its meeting.

The board approved Shepherd's Heart Enhance (a 501(c)(3) ministry represented by Pastor Joseph Romero) to hold an event using the existing fee structure; a board member said the ministry is “boots on the ground” for homeless outreach and the vote to approve the event and the stage fees carried by voice vote.

The board also approved a bass fishing tournament on Friday, Aug. 22, for eight boats; staff confirmed the group has insurance and will pay launch fees. The board approved the motion by voice vote.

Separately, the East Central Neighborhood Association had requested three small concerts (June 11, July 9 and Aug. 13). The board had previously approved the June date but had not approved July and August; staff reported no feedback on the June event. The board voted to approve the July 9 date contingent on Carl and Nikki reviewing the June event and reporting back; the board asked staff to follow up and to report for an August decision on the remaining date.

No special vendor permissions were granted for Shepherd's Heart (the group confirmed it is a 501(c)(3) and that attendees may donate); the board did not waive standard stage rental fees but allowed the event to proceed under the standard fee schedule.
