The Prairie Creek Parks Board voted to suspend the campsite and dock lottery for the 2026 season while the city and the water company determine appropriate carrying-capacity limits for docks and campsites. Board members said the water company has invited the city to participate in discussions but has not provided a numeric carrying-capacity figure. To avoid selling more reservations or slips than the water company later determines are allowable, the board approved a suspension and said it will reevaluate once a carrying-capacity number has been agreed. "The water company has invited the city to participate in discussions and there has been no determination as far as what the appropriate number is of the lotteries," said Brad, a board member. "It seems inappropriate for us to allow lotteries to take place until we really know what number we're having." The board approved the suspension by voice vote after a motion and second. Board members said the suspension is intended as an abundance of caution while lease and capacity questions are resolved with the water company. The suspension is procedural; no changes to existing reservations already confirmed for earlier dates were described at the meeting. The board asked staff to coordinate with the water company and to place the matter on a future agenda once capacity is determined.
