Conservation commission schedules volunteer invasive-plant removal at Onion Mountain for Aug. 10

The Simsbury Conservation Commission announced a volunteer invasive-plant removal event at Onion Mountain on Sunday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., asking volunteers to help remove burning bush and other invasives.

The chair described recent progress — "we've managed to cut down one chunk of the burning bush" — and said the removal has opened views toward the reservoir from the parking lot. The commission asked for volunteers, and noted prior participation by youth groups; the chair said the event will again include hands-on cutting and that residents along West Mountain Road who remove burning bush from their yards can help the effort.

No formal vote was required; the announcement served as an outreach and volunteer coordination item. The commission encouraged interested residents to join the Aug. 10 work session and noted that organizers have used youth groups and local volunteers in past events.
