Resident says standing water persists after ditch cleaning; staff to follow up

During the public-input period, resident Jim Clifton of 817 Kane Street told the council he has tracked standing water in a storm drainage ditch adjacent to his home for 12 years and said recent cleaning work left flat water to the outlet and raised new concerns about planned follow‑up work.
Clifton said the ditch previously dried partway down the outlet when it rained but that after vegetation removal the ditch now retained standing water to the outlet. He said he asked to review planned repair plans and to meet with staff but was told no, so he brought the concern to council and said he would provide documentation if needed at the next meeting.
Public Works Director Brian Benton told the council that staff would provide Clifton a business card and follow up with him the next morning to review the planned work and, if necessary, share plans and next steps. Council took no formal action; staff committed to the follow-up meeting.
