The District 742 Board approved the district’s 2025–26 membership in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) as presented by administration. Assistant Superintendent Jason Harris recommended renewal, citing the league’s role in governance, insurance and competition structure.
The vote to renew the MSHSL membership was moved and seconded by board members and carried on a roll‑call vote.
Board members also discussed broader transparency concerns with the MSHSL. Director Al Dahlgren and other trustees said they had difficulty finding current agendas and minutes on the MSHSL website; Dahlgren noted the published agenda on the League website still listed an April 3 meeting and the most recent minutes were from February. He asked district staff to encourage the League to publish agendas and minutes more consistently so member districts can review actions and legislative priorities.
Harris said local athletic directors receive regular updates, meeting notes and region‑lead reports from MSHSL staff, and suggested the board could ask the regional lead to provide meeting summaries to board members on request.
Why it matters: MSHSL sets eligibility, safety and competition rules for sanctioned activities; consistent access to agendas and minutes helps member districts respond to policy changes and engage in League governance.
Outcome: The membership renewal passed; the board directed administration to ask MSHSL staff for clearer posting or distribution of agendas and minutes to board members on request.
