After closed session, council directs staff on property sale, potential purchase and litigation follow-up

The Virginia City Council went into closed session during its Committee of the Whole meeting to discuss city-owned real property, potential litigation and labor negotiations under Minnesota statutory exceptions. When the council returned to open session, it directed staff to proceed with planning and potential sale of city parcel ID 090013900040, to move forward with a potential purchase of real property discussed in closed session, and to follow up on attorney–client matters related to clearing a specified area. The closed session subjects were disclosed under Minnesota Statutes cited in the meeting: property negotiation under Minn. Stat. §13D.05 subdivision 3; attorney–client privilege regarding potential litigation under Minn. Stat. §13D.05 subdivision 3(b); and labor negotiations under Minn. Stat. §13D.03 subdivision 1(b). Each open-session directive to staff was moved and supported and carried by voice vote. Council instructed staff to proceed with planning and negotiations consistent with closed-session discussions and to provide future updates in open session as appropriate. Staff will return with next steps and any required public-notice or sale documents.
