The Virginia City Council accepted a $34,000 donation from St. Louis County to support rehabilitation work at Essentia Health Virginia Hospital, the council confirmed on July 22. The donation had been presented to council at a Committee of the Whole meeting on July 15 by St. Louis County and Essentia Health Foundation representatives. City Administrator Britt Cibenes told council members the County’s community development manager Brad Gustafson and a representative from the Essentia Health Foundation attended the Committee of the Whole to explain the request. Council moved and approved acceptance of the county’s $34,000 contribution after no further discussion. The council action authorizes city staff to accept the donation and directs that funds be used for the hospital rehab as described in the committee packet. No additional city appropriation was authorized at the July 22 meeting; staff said the funds will be used consistent with the donor’s designation.
