Medina County Transit presented and the commissioners approved acceptance of State Fiscal Year 2026 Rural Transit Program funding from the Ohio Department of Transportation. Transit director Shannon Rein told the board the award will help cover the county’s local match (generally 50 percent) and that the state provided some fully funded components, reducing the local match on portions of the award. Rein also reported June ridership dipped somewhat, particularly among senior riders and discretionary medical trips; nonetheless, the transit system recorded zero trip denials for the reporting period. The board approved the resolution authorizing acceptance of the ODOT funds by roll call (Sweatick: yes; Hambley: yes; Harrison: yes). Rein shared customer compliments and pictures as part of the monthly update and said staff continue to control cost per passenger.
