Story County approves amendment to floodplain management code, will send ordinance to Iowa DNR for review

Leanne (staff member) told the Story County Board of Supervisors on July 22 that ordinance 327 reorganizes Chapter 80 (Floodplain Management Program) of the Story County Code of Ordinances to conform with Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) requirements. Leanne said staff made minor modifications after the prior meeting and received no public comment during the current public hearing.
Leanne recommended approval and requested the board waive further consideration; she said the county will submit the ordinance to the Iowa DNR for review and that the DNR may require additional changes, in which case the county would return with another ordinance.
During the public hearing the board received no oral public comment and moved to adopt ordinance 327 on second consideration and waive third consideration. Supervisors voted unanimously to approve the ordinance on second consideration and to waive the third.
Leanne said the change is essentially a reorganization of the chapter as prescribed by the Iowa DNR; if the DNR requires revisions, the county will prepare and present those revisions in a subsequent ordinance.
