The Lawrence Licensing Board voted unanimously July 23 to dismiss a complaint about parked and unregistered vehicles connected to Shop Car Sales LLC following inspections and remedial actions. Commissioners voted to find no violation after police and licensing staff reported the issues had been corrected.
The complaint, received July 7, alleged unregistered motor vehicles, debris on the dealer lot and parking on Jamaica Street, licensing staff said. Miguel Gomez, who represented Shop Car Sales LLC at the meeting, told commissioners he would address any issues immediately. "I try to be very cordial with all my neighbors, very, respectful and responsible as well," Gomez said.
Licensing staff and an inspector reported that the vehicle insurance issue was resolved (the applicant had a valid policy but paperwork had not been placed on file) and that items cluttering the lot had been removed after multiple site visits. Lieutenant Olivieri told the board he had spoken with the responding officer and that "all violations that were in question have been resolved," and Lieutenant Elvis Frias said his own site check found a clean lot.
Commissioner Mike Laird moved to dismiss the complaint as no violation; Commissioner Morales seconded. The board recorded unanimous votes in favor and released the petitioner.
The decision was procedural: staff and enforcement confirmed compliance at the inspection and no further board action was required. The board encouraged the business to continue cooperating with city departments and to reach out if fire or safety questions arise.
No changes to licensing status or conditions were imposed, and the board closed the item after the vote.
