Ripley reports lagoon cleanup and sewer line projects nearing completion

City staff told the Board of Mayor and Aldermen that crews completed a prolonged lagoon cleanout and made progress on other sewer infrastructure work. A speaker identified as Scott said crews finished cleaning an area lagoon that had accumulated about two feet of solids on the bottom and now has roughly 10 feet of storage capacity above those solids; he said the lagoon had taken about 13 years to fill and expects it to serve the city for roughly another 10 years. Scott also reported the sewer force main pressure testing is nearly complete and repairs for any leaks will follow, and that a 12-inch line to Marlin Drive is under construction. Board members praised public employees for the work. No votes or budget actions were recorded for these project updates at the meeting.
