In brief remarks after the appointments, Dr. Childs thanked the board and introduced family members in the audience. “This actually means so much to me to have my family present,” Childs said, thanking board members and district staff for the opportunity. Laurie Gambiero said she was “beyond thrilled to come back to the district where I started my teaching career,” and described herself as “completely student centered.” William (Bill) McLennan said he was a “29-year educational veteran” and expressed enthusiasm for joining the district’s leadership team.
The board later approved individual employment agreements for the assistant superintendent positions in open session. The agenda reported a base salary for the assistant superintendent of educational services and the assistant superintendent of human resources and labor relations of $193,179.94 each, placement on step 6, and a monthly car allowance of $400; those agreements were approved 6-0. The motions and votes for the employment agreements were made in open session and recorded as carried 6-0.
