Board confirms county health officer appointment; Brian Prowandt named Hendry County health officer

The Board concurred with the Florida Department of Health's selection of Brian Prowandt as the new health officer for Hendry and Glades counties after the department presented its recruitment and selection process.
The Henry County Board of County Commissioners granted concurrence July 22 to the Florida Department of Health's appointment of Brian Prowandt as the county's health officer for Hendry (and Glades) counties.
Dr. Joe Pepe of the Florida Department of Health described the competitive recruitment and interview process. Prowandt, an experienced county staffer who has worked in environmental health for more than two decades, was presented as the department's candidate. "He's been with us 27 years now," Pepe said, noting Prowandt's statewide recognition, including last year's environmental health director award.
Commissioner Glaser moved to appoint and the board approved the motion by voice vote. Prowandt received public acknowledgements and thanks from commissioners for his long service and was welcomed into the new role.
