Representatives from campus partner organizations reported recent activity and upcoming events at the fairgrounds campus during the July 21 meeting. A campus partner representative said Geodis Park hosted six Major League Soccer regular‑season matches, three FIFA Club World Cup matches, and a U.S. men’s national team send‑off match in June. Geodis Park will host an international friendly vs. Aston Villa on Aug. 2, an MLS regular‑season match vs. Orlando on Aug. 23, and an international friendly between the Mexican men’s national team and the Korea Republic on Sept. 9. The partner noted the team is sitting second in the Eastern Conference and said fan experience at the stadium continues to be strong. A mixed‑use development representative reported on last week’s ribbon cutting for 445 Park Commons and Fair Plaza, saying the residential building is about 85% occupied and that a small number of affordable units remain. Retail leasing updates included Barista Parlor (already open), Scouts Barbershop (expected to open pending final occupancy certificate), and Voodoo Brewery, which the presenter said was expected to receive a permit and begin construction. The developer representative said Block A is in predevelopment, drawings are expected later this year, and an early‑2026 groundbreaking is targeted if capital markets permit. The presenter said infrastructure work will be required at the peripheries of Blocks A and B and that staff would coordinate further participation agreements similar to prior reimbursable arrangements used for Fair Plaza. A speedway representative said heavy rains this year caused several rainouts and makeup events, but that the most recent race drew a strong crowd and the next race is scheduled for Aug. 9 with a back‑to‑school family night theme. Board members asked whether campus partners needed infrastructure assistance; representatives said they are coordinating with Metro staff and will raise specific logistical requests as they firm plans for Blocks A and B.
