At its July 22 meeting the Henry County Board approved multiple bid awards and request-for-quote awards presented by Public Works Director Shane Parker.
The board accepted staff's recommendation to award RFQ 2025-11 (airport development other professional engineering services) to AECOM based on firm rankings. Commissioners also approved bid 2025-17 to install metal over an existing shingle roof at the Harlem gymnasium; the contract was awarded to Johnson Contracting and Roofing in the amount of $49,700.
The commission approved a $7,200 low-bid award to Mackenzie Lawn Service of LaBelle for demolition of a manufactured mobile home at the LaBelle Airport and approved Morocco & Associates for surveying services related to drainage facilities between Fortinode Road and Murray Road in the amount of $15,000. Staff described the surveying work as a first step to clean existing drainage facilities and secure easements needed for future improvements.
Commissioners discussed the drainage item and asked staff to follow up quickly on future easement work and potential off-site drainage improvements to Banana Branch; Parker said the survey/entry work is the initial phase and additional design and easement conveyance could enable future ditch cleaning and right-of-way activities.
All motions to award the various contracts were approved by voice vote.
