The Village of Round Lake Beach Board of Trustees unanimously approved a consent agenda July 21 that included $1,786,104.51 in expenditures, multiple public-works contracts and waivers of competitive bidding, and several ordinances and appointments.
Trustees voted to approve a set of items listed as consent agenda items A through L, which the chair said were bundled to save time. The list included approval of June 16 meeting minutes and the $1,786,104.51 expenditures. It also included resolutions waiving competitive bidding and approving proposals for fire hydrant painting (Alpha Paint Works Inc.), steel-column repairs at the public works garage, and roof replacement for village hall and the police department; an award of contract to Schroeder Asphalt Services Inc.; an award for the purchase of a stump grinder; a resolution supporting the Illinois America 250 Commemoration; and ordinances covering several local code amendments and property-sale documents.
The consent package also included an ordinance amending village code section(s) related to jumping from the bridge over the Round Lake Channel at Lakefront Park, an ordinance approving a first amendment to the purchase and sale agreement for the property known as Outlot A at the northeast corner of Rollins Road and Civic Center Way, an ordinance amending Title 2 on boards and commissions, and the appointment of James Vacelli as administrative adjudication hearing officer.
The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Trustee Ibera and seconded by Trustee Stout. The board approved the package by roll call vote. Recorded ayes included Trustee Husk, Trustee Valadez, Trustee Barra, Trustee Stout and Acting Chair Davis; no nays or abstentions were recorded.
Why it matters: The approvals authorize near-term public-works spending and maintenance projects and change personnel and code administration. Several waivers of competitive bidding and contract awards will result in planned construction and procurement activity.
Meeting context: The consent agenda was handled at the start of the business portion of the July 21 meeting and was approved by unanimous roll call.
