Staff told committee members the timing will avoid meaningless variances when comparing FY26 to prior years.
The CPS presentation listed examples (software account 101.2451 to 101.2455 in the presentation), and staff said reclassification will save time on DESE reporting. The Concord‑Carlisle regional presentation used the same rationale and showed a revised budget table that preserved previously approved totals while changing account codes for DESE compliance.
Committee members voted to approve the revised FY26 budgets with remapped accounts. Staff emphasized that the reclassification does not change spending priorities or add new expenditures; it simply aligns internal reporting with state requirements and will help produce apples‑to‑apples budget comparisons in future years.
