The Park & Recreation Committee recommended that the Common Council adopt a resolution authorizing the director to apply for a 2025 urban forestry grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The committee recorded that the grant would cover 50% of the cost of a tree inventory and purchase of four tablets to help staff maintain the inventory.
Director Sowell presented the resolution to the committee and stated the grant application would allow the director to sign application documents, submit reports, and request reimbursements to the Wisconsin DNR if awarded. Committee members voted to recommend the resolution to council.
At the council meeting, the committee’s recommendation was put forward and the motion to recommend the urban forestry grant resolution to council carried 10-0. The meeting minutes note the grant application timeline (submission by November 1 at committee level) and that additional grant funds may be available for a boat‑launch overflow lot project; the record does not include an award decision or a signed grant agreement.
